My Teaching Journey Begins
Teaching was never on my radar when I was younger; in fact, I despised school. However, God had different plans for me, and my life took a turn. As a senior in high school, I was unsure of what to do after graduation. I received a scholarship for two years at a technical school or community college in Tennessee and decided to pursue cosmetology, despite having no interest in it. But then, something unexpected happened: I landed an interview for a teacher’s assistant position at Rhea Elementary School’s baby daycare in Paris, Tennessee, and I got the job! I made the difficult decision to forgo my scholarship and accept the position, which led me to start working as a teacher at just 19 years old. I quickly discovered my passion for teaching, and after 7 1/2 years of experience, I am now the assistant teacher in the preschool room. My next goal is to obtain my teaching degree and advance my career as an educator. I’ll be sharing more about my journey of juggling school, work, and wedding planning in a future post.
